Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before generating real-world Minecraft maps.

What is Arnis?

Arnis is a real-world Minecraft map generator that converts public map data into playable Minecraft worlds. With Arnis, you can choose a real location, select a compact area, and create an Arnis Minecraft worldmap from realworld maps in your browser.

What formats does Arnis support?

Arnis supports Java Edition ZIP world folders and Bedrock .mcworld files when those formats are enabled by the connected generation API. Bedrock .mcworld maps can be used with Minecraft on Windows, Android, iOS/iPadOS, Chromebook, Amazon Fire, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. Java ZIP worlds are built for Minecraft Java Edition on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

What does Arnis generate?

Arnis generates compact real-world Minecraft maps from selected locations. Larger presets may require queueing or remain unavailable while server capacity is adjusted.

How much area can I generate?

The online generator works best with small neighborhoods, campuses, and city blocks. Runtime depends on area size, OpenStreetMap detail, terrain density, and enabled options. If a selection feels slow, choose a smaller rectangle before generating again.

Which Minecraft editions are supported?

Arnis can generate a Java Edition world package and, when the API supports it, a Bedrock .mcworld file for current Bedrock clients, mobile devices, and Minecraft Education Edition.

How do I open the generated world?

For Java Edition, download the zip, unzip it, and move the world folder into your saves directory. For Bedrock, open the .mcworld file with Minecraft so it imports into your world list.

What data sources does Arnis use?

Arnis reads roads, buildings, land use, and other map features from OpenStreetMap. Elevation is built from open terrain datasets, so well-mapped places usually produce the most detailed Minecraft world generator results.

Is Arnis AI-generated?

No. Arnis does not invent the scene with AI. It converts real map and elevation data into blocks with deterministic rules, so the output follows the available geographic data.

Why are some buildings or roads missing?

The conversion depends on community-maintained OpenStreetMap coverage. Rural areas or incomplete city data may have gaps. Improving the source map can make future generated worlds more complete.

Is it safe and official?

Arnis creates new world files instead of modifying your Minecraft installation. Arnis.io is an independent service and is not an official Minecraft, Mojang, or Microsoft product.
